International Student Advisor at University of Idaho

**Position Summary:**
The International Student Advisor is responsible for overseeing immigration advising and support services for the University of Idaho’s international student body, consisting of approximately 600 students. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of federal immigration laws applicable to F-1 and J-1 visa holders, coupled with an acute awareness of cultural and linguistic diversity.

**Minimum Qualifications:**
– Bachelor’s Degree
– Experience in delivering student-centric customer service
– Skilled in clearly and concisely presenting information to individuals, and both small and large groups
– Competence in compiling and analyzing data to aid leadership or administrative decisions
– Proficiency in interpreting and applying standards and regulations
– Experience in coordinating logistics for events involving travel, accommodations, and programming for multiple participants

**Preferred Qualifications:**

*Education:*
– Master’s degree in a related field

*Experience:*
– Two years of relevant work experience
– Experience advising international students about immigration regulations
– Proficiency in researching, organizing information, and generating reports
– Ability to create and present workshops for diverse audience sizes
– Skill in designing and conducting training programs
– Experience with sponsored student programs (e.g., SACM, IIE, IREX, etc.)
– Experience as a Designated School Official (DSO) and/or an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO)
– Experience working with linguistically diverse students in higher education

*Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:*
– Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
– Demonstrated multitasking ability
– In-depth knowledge of federal immigration regulations related to F-1 and J-1 visa categories
– Familiarity with UI systems (e.g., Banner, Sunapsis)
– Capability to work independently with sound judgment
– Ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting
– High proficiency in computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
