The International Student Advisor plays a crucial role in a dedicated advising team that supports the international student population at NDSU. With over 700 international students from more than 70 countries, the advisor is responsible for providing immigration and other advising support, serving as a Designated School Official (DSO) for the F-1 student program.
The primary responsibilities of the advisor include advising F-1 and other non-immigrant students on immigration matters, handling communication with prospective and newly admitted international students regarding immigration document processing, completing required reporting in the Student Exchange and Visitor Information System (SEVIS), supporting orientation and programming activities, and providing additional office support.

The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 8:00-5:00, with adjusted hours of 7:30-4:00 during breaks and summer. The advertised salary for this position is $44,000.
Minimum qualifications for this position include a Bachelor’s degree, international skills that demonstrate sensitivity to diverse cultures, experience studying, working, or living abroad, foreign language training experience, proficiency with Microsoft Office, excellent written communication skills, and the ability to organize tasks and set priorities.
Preferred qualifications include professional experience in a higher education environment, experience with federal immigration regulations, specifically non-immigrant regulations, and familiarity with Perceptive Content document imaging.
