The SUNY Cortland is looking for an SL3 International Student Advisor who will assist international students with their immigration status, cultural transition, and academic achievements. The job responsibilities include ensuring compliance with immigration policies and procedures, managing SEVIS reporting, guiding academic advisement and health insurance requirements, organizing cultural events and programming, handling social media, supporting the university’s exchange program for incoming students, creating web- and print-based publications, and contributing to office initiatives and campus internationalization efforts.
To apply for this position, applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree, experience working with international or study abroad students and office technology, and demonstrate excellent communication, public speaking, and organizational skills. As the job requires serving as a Designated School Official (DSO) for SEVIS, a lawful permanent resident of the United States or a citizen is preferable. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree, significant international experience, and knowledge of SEVIS functionality and the Department of Homeland Security’s regulations governing F1 programs.
