Job Title: Immigration Adviser (Part-time)
Location: Marylebone
Hours: 28 hours per week
Salary: Pro-rata amount, full-time salary £45,791 – £50,855 per annum (Incl. LWA)
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and experienced immigration adviser to join our dynamic Student Advice team. This part-time position requires a commitment of 28 hours per week. The salary stated above reflects the pro-rata amount, while the full-time salary for this position ranges from £45,791 to £50,855 per annum (Incl. LWA).
The University of Westminster’s Student Advice team is a part of the Student Advice and Funding team within the Student and Academic Services (SAS) directorate. SAS provides a wide range of support services for students, including disability learning support, counseling, wellbeing, student funding, scholarships, interfaith advice, career development, and library services. Student Advice specializes in offering tailored advice and support to current and prospective University of Westminster students on various practical matters, including student finance, welfare benefits, and visa advice. This particular role focuses on providing visa advice and support to international students.
As an Immigration Adviser, you will work closely with the Student Advisers and International Student Advisers to deliver high-level specialist advice and support to prospective and current international students and their dependents. Your expertise will include advising on student visa requirements and the application process, as well as offering guidance on visa rejections and refusals. It is essential that you possess a solid understanding of immigration regulations for EU nationals, alternative visa options for international students, and visas for family members of UK and EU nationals. Additionally, you will collaborate with the University’s Visa Compliance team to ensure compliance with the Student Sponsor License. A comprehensive understanding of Home/Overseas fee status Regulations is also required.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide one-to-one advice to students and conduct workshops for groups of students. Therefore, excellent communication and presentation skills are essential. Ideally, you will have recent experience working in a visa advice service, preferably within Higher Education.
Please note that the University of Westminster currently follows a hybrid working model, which includes at least one day a week on-site.
During the interview process, candidates will be assessed on their knowledge of Immigration Rules as they relate to students and will be required to deliver a short presentation.
