Job Title: International Student Support Officer (Part-Time)
Location: University of Birmingham
Salary: £29,647-£30,554 (pro rata for part-time, with progression up to £35,388)
Hours: 17.5 hours per week (over 2.5 days, part-time or job share)
Overview of the Role
The International Student Support Officer plays a key role in ensuring the University of Birmingham continues to deliver an exceptional experience to its international students while maintaining compliance with UK Home Office regulations. This is a part-time position aimed at assisting international students and applicants, with a focus on visa support, pre-arrival preparation, and in-country visa extension activities.
The successful candidate will join the International Student Team (IST) and work closely with the Birmingham International Academy to enhance the student journey, covering pre-arrival assistance, visa compliance, and early student experiences. A cornerstone of this role is promoting the “Birmingham Experience,” ensuring students feel supported and welcome throughout their academic journey.
Additionally, the role requires involvement in workshops, webinars, and other activities supporting international applicants before their arrival at the university. The position also carries the responsibility of ensuring the University meets relevant Immigration Rules and adheres to its obligations as a Home Office-approved Student Sponsor.
