**Position Focus:**
The Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) functions as the primary campus resource for international students, scholars, and their families. It strives to cultivate a welcoming community by providing orientation for newcomers and organizing year-round programs and activities. This role involves collaborating with campus and community partners, including student organizations and the International Spouses and Partners at Yale (ISPY), to oversee a variety of programs and initiatives. Responsibilities include managing the International Programming Fund (IPF), supervising one or more student workers, and coordinating with McDougal International fellows. The International Community Engagement Specialist also plays a key role in developing communication strategies through social media, the OISS website, and newsletters.

Key duties consist of developing, implementing, and managing programs that support and build a community among Yale’s international students and scholars, ensuring they have the best possible experience. The role also involves forming partnerships with university and community entities, assessing program effectiveness, and assisting in the planning and execution of pre-arrival and orientation programs. Programs are designed to make the International Center a welcoming and supportive space, often described as a “home away from home.” Additionally, the specialist provides guidance and programmatic support to spouses and partners at Yale and serves as a liaison to international and intercultural student groups.

Responsibilities also include designing and implementing innovative communication tools and maintaining the content of the OISS website, weekly e-newsletter, and social media channels. The position supervises student workers and coordinates the work of McDougal International Fellows, assisting the Associate Director of Engagement, Assessment, and Operations in broad assessment efforts.

**Essential Duties:**
1. Oversee the advancement and growth of the program, directing and supporting its philosophy, mission, strategy, and annual objectives. Main accountability includes disseminating and publicizing program information to enhance public awareness and support.
2. Collaborate closely with leadership, colleagues, and community stakeholders to develop and implement strategic plans.
3. Identify, solicit, and cultivate community partnerships to assist in program development and growth, developing metrics for success measurement.
4. Aid in identifying potential future funding sources and contribute to grant and contract submissions supporting the program.
5. Develop the administrative infrastructure, manage human resources, and oversee information systems, facilities, and space needs.
6. Investigate and implement systems to gather and report information supporting program initiatives, recommending adjustments as necessary.
7. Design and manage program communications, identifying outreach opportunities, and supporting the program’s philanthropic and collaborative goals. Assist in managing website content.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.

**Required Education and Experience:**
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of educational background and relevant experience.

**Required Skills and Abilities:**
1. Demonstrated interest in collaborating with diverse cultures and experience in intercultural program development. Familiarity with U.S. immigration/tax regulations and understanding of cross-cultural issues.
2. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, creativity, energy, and enthusiasm, with strong written and oral communication abilities.
3. Proven supervisory and leadership capabilities, adept at both independent work and team collaboration.
4. Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, with advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and web content management.
5. Bachelor’s Degree and at least three years of responsible experience in intercultural program development, preferably in higher education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

**Preferred Skills and Experience:**
Demonstrated success in developing support programs for international communities. Proficiency in web editing and social media design, with an understanding of cultural and personal transitions faced by international populations.
