Overview of the Office:
The Office of International Programs and Services (OIPS) at George Mason University is dedicated to fostering a global community by integrating international students, researchers, and faculty. The office guides international scholars in immigration and employment matters, assists them with cultural adjustment, and promotes cross-cultural understanding through globally themed programs.

Role Description:
As an International Advisor, you will play a vital role in advising international students and faculty on federal immigration regulations and non-immigrant status in the U.S. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure compliance with federal regulations while facilitating access to resources that support their academic, professional, and personal goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise and assist non-immigrant students and faculty on federal regulations and eligibility for various benefits.
  • Act as a key liaison among internal university departments and external federal agencies.
  • Offer support in cultural adjustment and academic success.
  • Develop and deliver training and orientation sessions tailored for non-immigrants.
  • Engage in professional development initiatives and departmental projects.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a related field or an equivalent educational/experiential background.
  • Proven experience working with diverse student bodies and managing data analytics.
  • Strong cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Competency in handling regulatory information with confidentiality and attention to detail.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency is mandatory.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience as an F-1 Designated School Official or J-1 Responsible Officer is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with SEVIS software and web content creation.
