Job Summary
The Admission Counselor for International Admission is responsible for recruiting and advising prospective international students at Elmhurst University. They assist with recruitment efforts, provide counseling to prospective students, advise on the F-1 student immigration process, process admission applications, evaluate foreign educational credentials, and assist with achieving new student enrollment goals.
Salary Grade: A09
Essential Functions
- Provide recruiting and advising support for incoming international students.
- Review international applicant files and contribute to international admission communication.
- Build relationships with prospective international students and families by informing them about University programs and admission procedures, and maintaining positive relationships through excellent customer service.
- Assist with planning and executing communication schedules with international prospective students and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
- Utilize the Slate CRM to track prospects’ progress through the enrollment process.
- Host online webinars and information sessions to guide students through the process.
- Participate in on-campus visitation programs and coordinate international summer immersion programs for prospective students.
- Process initial I-20s for new admits as a Designated School Official (DSO).
- Collaborate with the Office of Global Engagement for international activities and student support.
Other Duties and Responsibilities

- Perform other assigned duties and serve on-campus committees, if required.
- Potentially travel to international locations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and SIS/CRM systems.
- Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
- Ability to represent the institution positively and accurately.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Knowledge of admission, financial aid procedures, and academic offerings.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle fluctuating responsibilities.
- Valid driver’s license for off-campus visits (reimbursement provided).
- Familiarity with U.S. immigration regulations for non-immigrant students.
- Experience working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and strong cross-cultural communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Accurate and confidential handling of details.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluency in a second language.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
The employee’s work is sedentary and primarily indoors, protected from weather conditions. There may be occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Work Hours
Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
