Job Opportunity:

International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) is seeking an Immigration Specialist II to join our team. This position will assist with processing and advising for our office and clientele, including international students, scholars, family members, faculty, staff, and community representatives. The primary focus will be supporting our scholar population by processing immigration requests and providing guidance. We are looking for an experienced professional who can deliver thorough, accurate, and timely customer service related to immigration and other matters. The ideal candidate will promote teamwork, respect, and professionalism in the workplace and in all interactions with internal and external clientele. Requirements:

– Salary Range: $40,712 to $52,312 (commensurate with experience)
– Cover Letter/Resume: A cover letter and resume are strongly recommended for submission.
– Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years of related immigration service experience.
– Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications. Basic familiarity with immigration laws. Ability to multitask and collaborate with others. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational, customer service, and interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented. Ability to comprehend and communicate technical information effectively and diplomatically. Ability to build rapport with individuals.

Physical Requirements:

– Ability to work on-site in the office and provide face-to-face customer service.
– Proficiency in using a computer, telephone, copier, and printer.
– Capability to lift, move, or carry individual documents and paper boxes as needed for records retention.

Additional Requirements:

– U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident status required for certification as a Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO).
– Willingness to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
– Availability to work both on- and off-campus.
– Required to handle protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA regulations and complete HIPAA training.
– Travel may be required.
– Remote work may be necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

– Master’s degree or higher.
– Active member of NAFSA: Association of International Educators or other relevant organizations.
– Certification as a Principal Designated School Official (PDSO), Designated School Official (DSO), Responsible Officer (RO), and/or Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO).

Responsibilities:

– Process immigration documents and requests for international scholars, maintaining accurate records and handling confidential information.
– Stay informed about relevant regulations, policies, and procedures at the federal, state, university, and ISSS levels, providing independent advising to students and scholars.
– Assist with urgent cases, conflicts, and complex matters, escalating as necessary.
– Represent ISSS through presentations, events, liaising with other units, committee participation, and travel.
– Serve as a liaison between international students and campus departments, community members, and organizations.
– Complete additional projects and duties as assigned.
