Job Details:
The Immigration Services Specialist at Temple University will provide individual guidance to international students and scholars regarding immigration, financial, academic, and personal matters. This includes advising on F-1 and J-1 student status, Exchange Visitor (J-1) status, and Nonimmigrant Worker status (H-1B, O-1, TN, etc.). The specialist will also fulfill the role of Designated School Officer and Alternate Responsible Officer, preparing and submitting immigration documentation on behalf of students and scholars, maintaining SEVIS records, and acting as a liaison with the Office of Human Resources.

Essential Functions:
– Process initial Certificates of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status
– Advise students and scholars on immigration and related matters
– Review and process requests related to maintaining immigration status
– Assist with website maintenance
– Conduct scheduled appointments and meet with walk-in visitors
– Participate in New International Student Orientation
– Aid in check-in procedures for new international students
– Provide orientations for incoming J-1 scholars
– Assist with the creation and maintenance of handouts
– Serve as a liaison between the university and the U.S. Department of State and Department of Homeland Security
– Assist with data management and reporting
– Assist with ordering supplies
– Deliver presentations and other orientations as needed
– Accept additional responsibilities as assigned by superiors
