**Position Overview**

As an Immigration Advisor in the People Services team at De Montfort University, you will be pivotal in aiding our diverse workforce by providing expert advice on UK visa and immigration issues. Reporting to the Deputy Head of People Services Operations, you will be the primary contact for all immigration-related queries, offering detailed support and guidance to both colleagues within the university and external applicants navigating the visa process.

Your role will involve working closely with the Home Office and various university departments to ensure adherence to UK immigration laws while delivering a high-quality, customer-centric service. Key responsibilities include the issuance of certificates of sponsorship, management of sponsor duties, and ensuring all reporting requirements to UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) are met. Through your efforts, you will help cultivate an inviting atmosphere for international staff and support the university’s mission to promote inclusivity and attract global talent.

**Candidate Profile**

We seek a skilled immigration professional with extensive experience in handling UK visa and immigration procedures, ideally within higher education or similarly regulated fields. A comprehensive understanding of the Points-Based System, UK immigration legislation, and compliance best practices is essential. The ability to clearly interpret complex immigration laws and provide straightforward guidance to individuals without a legal background is paramount.

The successful candidate will possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective engagement with a wide array of stakeholders, from university leaders to visa applicants. A proactive approach is necessary, with the ability to identify process improvement opportunities and implement enhancements for better service delivery.
