**About the Role:**
Imperial College London is looking for an exceptional leader to become our Head of Imperial Futures Proposal Development. As part of Imperial’s new Strategy, our goal is to boost interdisciplinary research and our global reputation by launching four Imperial Futures: Schools of Convergence Science. These Schools will enhance Imperial’s core mission while pushing the envelopes of problem-solving through unique transdisciplinary knowledge creation. Capitalizing on existing expertise in STEMB, social sciences, and humanities, these Schools will foster innovative research programs aligned with current societal values, norms, and trends. Imperial Futures will act as both a Physical and Virtual ‘Shop Window’, amplifying our convening power, nurturing upcoming research leaders, driving future innovation, and securing funding.
Supporting the work of Imperial Futures will be a dedicated Cross College Imperial Futures Operations team, offering comprehensive financial, operational, strategic, and administrative support. The Imperial Futures Proposal Development team will be an integral part of this operations team.
**Responsibilities:**
– **Strategic Leadership:** Collaborate with the Vice-Provost and School Directors to implement strategic initiatives focused on research, training, and innovation.
– **Bid Preparation and Consortium Building:** Spearhead large-scale, multidisciplinary funding proposals and establish global consortia that span academic, governmental, and non-profit sectors.
– **Team Management:** Lead and cultivate the Imperial Futures Proposal Development team, ensuring proficient service delivery and strategic impact.
– **Research Funding and Policy Advocacy:** Influence national and international research agendas and secure competitive funding for pioneering projects.
– **Stakeholder Engagement:** Forge executive-level relationships with key partners to drive collaboration and innovation.
**Qualifications:**
– **Experience:**
– Proven leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams and successful competitive funding bids.
– Strong track record in staff management and team development.
– Experience in research environments, research funding, and project management.
– Diplomatic skills and stakeholder management with established networks in academia and funding bodies.
– Prior experience in a higher education institution.
– **Knowledge:**
– Comprehensive understanding of the international higher education and research landscape.
– Insight into funding bodies, research policies, and interdisciplinary innovation.
– Familiarity with funding schemes and policy advocacy.
– **Skills:**
– Strategic thinker with excellent communication, presentation, and research skills.
– Adaptability, self-direction, and proficiency in managing complex projects.
– Ability to identify and nurture early-stage research potential.
