The Royal Society

The Royal Society is a prestigious scientific academy in the UK that is dedicated to promoting excellence in science. They offer a variety of grant schemes to support scientists at all stages of their careers, including early career and senior scientists. These grants can be used for both discovery-led and applied research, as well as investments in industry and innovation. The Royal Society also works with international partners to foster international collaborations and strengthen research capacity in developing countries. In addition, they provide training, mentoring, support, and networking opportunities for the next generation of research leaders.

The Royal Society is currently seeking a highly motivated candidate to join their Grants team, specifically focusing on their International Exchanges Scheme. The ideal candidate should have excellent organizational and time management skills, as well as strong attention to detail. This role requires multitasking and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, as it involves handling a high volume of caseloads.

As part of the Grants team, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing and administering the International Exchanges scheme on a day-to-day basis. This includes being the main point of contact for applicants, peer reviewers, and award holders. While it is desirable for candidates to have experience in research management or grant funding, it is not essential.

The main purposes of this role are to ensure the smooth application, selection, and awarding process for research funding calls, according to agreed standards. The candidate will also serve as a knowledgeable liaison for external researchers and administrators, offering advice, guidance, and support on Royal Society funding schemes, policies, and grant management approaches. Furthermore, they will contribute to ongoing improvements in grant-making and scheme development.

This position reports to the Senior Manager of International Grants and does not involve line management responsibilities. The role is based at the Royal Society’s location in London.

The deadline for applications is 28th July at 23:59, and interviews for shortlisted candidates will be conducted on 7th and 8th August
