American International University (AIU) requires enthusiastic and committed full-time faculty members for its School of Arts & Sciences who are passionate about teaching, mentoring and creating successful learning environments with their students. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with the faculty of all disciplines and be an innovative professional who utilizes current trends and technologies to deliver relevant classroom experiences.

We require a leader and active member of the chemistry field who can teach basic and advanced chemistry courses, plus organic and physical chemistry. They should have hands-on experience with laboratory experiments and knowledge of safety and chemical disposal. Candidates with knowledge of standard industry tools like ChemDraw, AMBER, DFTB+ and Quantum Espresso will have an advantage. The candidate should demonstrate competency in various instructional modalities (classroom, hybrid, and online learning) and familiarity with relevant instructional technology and learning management systems to effectively facilitate learning and communication with students. They should have the ability to work well with people from diverse communities and cultures. The position requires research, and university service in addition to teaching responsibilities.

The candidate should have excellent teaching ability and be able to work within a small program with a personal approach, emphasizing student attention. We expect them to have leadership skills in undergraduate teaching and mentoring, curriculum development, and program assessment. The school desires candidates who will broaden the curriculum and diversify the campus community in terms of race, gender, and ethnicity.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Chemistry or a related field
• Effective communication skills in English
• University teaching experience
• Commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship
• Experience with various instructional modalities (classroom, hybrid, and online learning) and demonstrated familiarity with relevant instructional technology and learning management systems
• Commitment and experience working effectively within a diverse university community
• Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with faculty from a variety of disciplines
• Experience working with English language learners is a plus
• Experience with program and course outcomes assessment is highly desirable

Experience:

• Teaching Chemistry: 5 years (Required)
• University Teaching: 5 years (Desired)
