We are currently seeking an Executive Head of Visa Services and Compliance to join our university on a full-time permanent basis, working 37 hours per week.

THE ROLE

The Executive Head of Visa Services and Compliance will provide expert guidance to the Senior Management Team regarding immigration and UKVI compliance matters. The successful candidate will support and enable the University to implement innovative initiatives aligned with its strategic goals while adhering to regulatory requirements. They will provide internal expertise to minimize the need for external professional advice.

Operationally, the Executive Head will oversee and maintain activities ensuring full and timely compliance with all aspects of current regulatory requirements related to international immigration. They will anticipate, identify, interpret, and mitigate potential risks.

The Executive Head will also represent the University and contribute to consultations on immigration and compliance policies initiated by the Home Office and other relevant regulatory bodies. Additionally, they will support the University’s Authorising Officer and provide advice on any changes to Sponsor’s duties and license arrangements.

ABOUT YOU

To be considered for the role, you should:

– Hold a relevant Master’s degree or equivalent
– Possess significant recent and relevant experience in a senior immigration role with a regulatory authority or higher education institution
– Demonstrate confident and pragmatic decision-making with sound judgment
– Have significant experience managing a University’s requirements under the Home Office’s points-based immigration system
– Be able to manage, understand, and interpret complex data and information to provide appropriate reports, presentations, and advice at all organizational levels, while effectively identifying and managing risks
– Possess a thorough knowledge and understanding of compliance requirements for all visa categories
– Have previous experience leading and managing a professional service team in a complex organization
– Have prior experience developing and implementing comprehensive and complex immigration-related policies and procedures
– Demonstrate strong self-motivation
– Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
– Be able to inspire and collaboratively engage with staff to foster new ideas and innovation
– Be effective working individually, as part of a team, and in partnership with others
– Exhibit strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet tight deadlines
– Recognize the importance of and ensure appropriate confidentiality
– Be prepared and willing to work flexibly
– Be open to travel as per the demands of the role.

The following would be advantageous for this role:

– Ability to communicate in Welsh (both oral and written)
