POSITION SUMMARY

As an intern at Amideast, you will support the Program Officer in managing the organization’s participation in U.S. Department of State sponsored programs like YES Abroad and the National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y). In addition, you will assist the Education Abroad team in implementing intercultural learning initiatives, addressing the needs of underserved participants, and promoting Amideast Education Abroad through digital marketing and outreach at U.S. institutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

– Assist in the implementation and support of YES Abroad and NSLI-Y programs
– Provide administrative support for student applications and document management
– Support social media and digital marketing efforts for Amideast Education Abroad programs
– Assist with various office tasks as required
– Supervise high school participants during orientations in D.C.
– Help plan and organize Amideast events
– Provide general staff support for student programs

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Required

– Strong communication skills, including social media marketing experience
– Attention to detail
– Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
– Flexible and adaptable in managing workload
– Interest in the Middle East, North Africa, international education, and public diplomacy
– Understanding of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in global contexts
– Proficiency in Office365 applications and various social media platforms
– Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team
– Willingness to travel locally and nationally as needed
– Available to work up to 30 hours during orientation weeks

Preferred

– Research skills
– Knowledge of Arabic, French, or other regional languages
– Experience studying abroad in the Global South
– Proficiency in editing digital content
– Video or audio editing experience
– Event planning experience
