Job Description Summary:

The Director of Global Travel and Risk Management will report to the Vice Provost for Global-Local Affairs and will have significant autonomy in decision-making. This role is responsible for leading the university’s international travel and risk management initiatives. The Director will develop policies and procedures to ensure the health, safety, and transformative learning experiences of students, faculty, and staff participating in university-sponsored global travel. They will also establish risk assessment programs, provide training and resources, and implement crisis management systems. This position requires expertise in international health, safety, and security issues, as well as the ability to collaborate with different departments and external organizations.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement comprehensive health, safety, and security policies for university-sponsored global travel, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
2. Evaluate global risks and threats, develop risk mitigation strategies, and establish emergency response protocols.
3. Provide training and educational programs on health, safety, and security issues, and develop relevant resources.
4. Implement and manage a system for tracking and communicating with university travelers.
5. Design, implement, and manage an effective emergency response and crisis management system.
6. Collaborate with various departments and act as a liaison with external organizations.
7. Continuously evaluate and improve health, safety, and security programs for university travelers.
8. Perform other assigned or requested duties.

Qualifications:

1. Master’s degree in international relations, risk management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
2. Minimum of five years of managerial experience in international risk management or global health, safety, and security, preferably in a higher education setting.
3. Strong understanding of international travel, health, safety, and security regulations and best practices.
4. Excellent communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and project management skills.
5. Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and international partners.
6. Overseas experience and knowledge of a foreign language is desirable.
7. Superior organizing, public speaking, and writing abilities.
8. Ability to work flexible hours for emergency response.

Work Schedule:

This position is initially in-person and eligible for a hybrid schedule after 90 days of employment.

Expected Salary:

$80,200 – $95,000, commensurate with education and experience.
