Director of International Programs and Services – Job Description

FLSA Classification: Full-time Exempt

Reports to: Provost

Date: May 2024

Summary/Objective:

The Director of International Programs and Services (DIPS) is responsible for providing support, leadership, and oversight for the College’s international engagement. This includes recruiting and retaining international students, as well as managing and supporting international experiences for faculty and students. The DIPS must also serve as a mandated reporter for Title IX and report any information related to acts of sexual violence.

Essential Functions:

– Effectively carry out the essential duties and responsibilities of the position in line with Randolph College’s mission and core values.
– Lead the international initiatives of the institution in collaboration with various campus offices.
– Conduct regular faculty and staff development on internationally-oriented issues to promote professional development.
– Advise and coordinate requirements for Randolph students studying abroad, as well as manage all immigration requirements for international students and exchange visitors.
– Oversee the College’s study abroad program, including risk management, quality control, and approval procedures.
– Advise students interested in study abroad and provide training for faculty-led study abroad leaders.
– Ensure comprehensive efforts to attract, retain, and graduate a diverse international student body.
– Serve as the Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) and chief SEVIS compliance officer.
– Coordinate delivery of key services and support for international students in collaboration with other College offices.
– Ensure institutional compliance with all SEVP, DHS, and Department of State regulations governing international students.
– Plan and participate in international recruitment activities aligned with the College’s enrollment plan.
– Communicate and advertise admissions requirements, program changes, international events, and other necessary information.
– Cooperate with administrative and academic units to implement international student intake and orientation each semester.
– Manage transfers, program extensions, reinstatements, dependents, and change of status requests for international students.
– Coordinate with graduate program directors and the director of graduate studies to ensure compliance with international graduate students.

Work Environment: Position typically works in an office environment.

Physical Demands: Requires standing/walking/sitting for extended periods. May occasionally lift 10-15 lbs.

Travel Required: May travel infrequently on College business.

Required Education, Competencies, and Experience:

– Earned bachelor’s degree
– Thorough understanding of visas and administrative processes
– Experience in risk management and intercultural communication
– Outstanding communication skills

Preferred Education and Experience:

– 3 or more years of successful administrative experience with international programs and/or services
– Experience working with international students, study abroad, and study away programs

Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements: Must be authorized to work in the United States. Pre-employment criminal background checks are required.
