Gateway Executive Search has partnered with Loyola Marymount University (LMU) to seek a highly qualified Director of Education Abroad. The Director will play a crucial role in the Office of Global-Local Affairs, overseeing a wide range of education abroad and international/global learning experiences. They will work closely with faculty, staff, and senior administrators to align education abroad programming with LMU’s academic objectives and mission.
The Director will be responsible for strategic planning and execution, including the development and implementation of initiatives that support education abroad programming. They will establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, represent LMU at professional conferences, and serve on university committees.
In terms of leadership and management, the Director will supervise a team of professionals, providing mentorship, training, and evaluation. They will also collaborate with internal stakeholders to generate revenue for education abroad programs and ensure prudent fiscal management. Marketing, assessment of student learning outcomes, and compliance with legal and risk management requirements are also part of the Director’s responsibilities.
Program planning and oversight will be another key aspect of the Director’s role. They will oversee all education abroad programs and develop policies and procedures based on best practices. The Director will work to enhance student access, promote services, and maintain student satisfaction. They will also manage enrollment processes, ensure compliance with regulations, and collaborate with faculty and partner providers to deliver high-quality programs.
The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in international education or a related field, along with at least five years of progressive leadership experience in international education within a higher education setting. They should have a proven ability to collaborate with faculty and diverse populations, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and proficiency in relevant business information systems. Preferred qualifications include a terminal degree, experience in diverse cultural settings, and teaching experience.
