University of Oxford

The Refugee-Led Research Hub (RLRH) is seeking a Director of Academic Programmes (DAP) to spearhead our global higher education initiatives for refugees and other individuals impacted by displacement. We are in search of a dedicated professional who will oversee a team responsible for delivering RLRH’s flagship academic access and bridging programmes: RSC Pathways, RSC Foundations, and Graduate Horizons, in addition to various enrichment activities.

As the DAP, you will foster inclusive learning environments for our affiliates, accommodating individuals at different stages in their academic and career journeys. Your role will be to motivate RLRH learners, spanning over 100 countries, to achieve their ambitions. Your leadership will ensure our programmes are not only relevant and rigorous, but also culturally sensitive and aligned with institutional values. Drawing on your strong background in programme management, operations, curriculum development, and teaching, you will enhance the accomplishments of our international alumni network of over 500 affiliates.

In managing a globally-oriented programme with a significant external focus beyond the UK, the DAP will also be responsible for integrating RLRH’s initiatives within the broader collegiate University. This will involve close collaboration with the Oxford Sanctuary Community to further Oxford’s objectives within the UK Universities of Sanctuary network.

Your role will also encompass essential functions such as developing institutional leadership, engaging in fundraising, building RLRH’s reputation, and acting as an ambassador for the organisation and its mission.

The ideal candidate will have excellent team and programme management skills, along with a PhD or Master’s degree and substantial research and academic experience. Proven expertise in designing and leading graduate-level academic programmes, as well as experience in teaching and facilitating diverse cohorts of learners, is essential.

At the Oxford Department of International Development (ODID), we celebrate and value diversity, striving to be inclusive and welcoming to all. You are welcomed at ODID without needing to hide any aspect of your identity. We recognize societal inequalities and their impact on each of us, both personally and professionally. Holding an Athena Swan bronze award, we are committed to fostering organizational and cultural changes that enhance equality, diversity, and a positive working environment for everyone. We are also actively working towards promoting race equality and minimizing biases and discrimination. Our collective efforts are focused on enriching and strengthening our community, and we are dedicated to teaching and research to elevate our impact on development debates both nationally and globally. We encourage all qualified candidates to apply and join us in achieving our objectives.
