As part of the SAAO, the position of International Programs Coordinator plays a crucial role in advancing the college’s internationalization goals. The coordinator is responsible for integrating international experiences and global learning into the curriculum, overseeing international student support and mobility initiatives, and creating experiential learning opportunities for both domestic and international students. They are a key member of the SAAO leadership team and serve as a representative of the college in matters of international education and programming.
In this role, the coordinator supervises a team of professionals who teach global perspectives courses, supports faculty in developing global classrooms and study abroad programs, manages education abroad and exchange programs, and leads international student initiatives. They are also responsible for developing and expanding international experiential learning, research, and career development programs in collaboration with academic units and LAS Career Services. Additionally, they identify and build international partnerships, serve as a liaison with campus international offices, and represent LAS in strategic conversations with campus partners and leadership.
The ideal candidate for this position has a Master’s degree in international education or a related field, along with five years of experience coordinating a student affairs program or specialized advising area. They should have demonstrated leadership experience and the ability to manage budgets and oversee staff and student hiring and promotions. A PhD in international education or a related field, experience in working with faculty on program design, and proficiency in a foreign language are preferred qualifications.
Successful candidates will possess a strong knowledge of international education and undergraduate advising issues, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. They should also demonstrate initiative, cultural awareness, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
