(COF) is a collaborative effort of five neighboring Boston-based colleges, including Emmanuel College, Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Simmons University, and Wentworth Institute of Technology. The mission of COF is to enhance student academic and social life while finding innovative ways to invest in new services and reduce the costs of higher education. Together, these colleges represent over 12,000 undergraduate students, more than 700 full-time faculty, and offer a wide range of courses.
Job Description:
The Director of the Global Education Opportunities Center (GEO) will be responsible for collaborating with the Offices of Study Abroad and International Programs at each member institution to coordinate study abroad programs, support international students, manage cross-registration for travel courses, and oversee emergency procedures for travel. They will provide strategic leadership and direction to the COF GEO Center, working closely with administrators from member institutions to identify and implement initiatives and programs that meet the needs of the colleges.
Responsibilities:
– Analyze the internationalization needs of the institutions and recommend opportunities for shared services and support.
– Develop centralized resources to improve efficiency in study abroad and international student operations.
– Establish emergency preparedness and risk management protocols for education abroad programs.
– Manage the development and maintenance of shared information management resources.
– Facilitate committees focused on international initiatives, study abroad operations, and international student engagement.
– Ensure effective communication between departments and support COF’s strategic priorities and global engagement initiatives.
– Oversee immigration advising for J exchange students and scholars.
– Provide individual counseling to institutions on international education needs as requested.
– Develop benchmarks for students, faculty, and administrators in international education.
– Implement project plans for international student engagement and study abroad events.
– Manage vendor relationships and budget for the GEO Center.
– Supervise the Assistant Director of the GEO Center.
– Attend staff meetings, provide monthly reports, and represent COF at various functions and conferences.
Requirements:
– Strong facilitation, collaboration, project management, organizational, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
– Knowledge of collegiate international education processes and issues.
– Understanding of group/organizational development and dynamics.
– Ability to build trust and interpersonal relationships, and work well in ambiguous situations.
– Excellent attention to detail and analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
– Familiarity with J exchange visitor visa regulations.
– Proficiency in computer applications such as SEVIS, TerraDotta, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Publisher.
Experience/Education:
– Master’s degree in education, international education, management, or a related field.
– Minimum six years of related experience, preferably in higher education.
– Proven experience in international program development and management.
– Must be a US citizen or lawful permanent resident (requirement for SEVIS).
