**Position:** Schwarzman Scholars Program

The Schwarzman Scholars Program is a prestigious, fully-funded, one-year master’s program at Tsinghua University, Beijing. It aims to foster a global network of future leaders who will enhance the understanding between China and the wider world. As a response to the evolving geopolitical landscape, this program emphasizes the importance of comprehending China’s growing influence. Each year, the program supports up to 150 graduate students, drawn from the U.S. (40%), China (20%), and worldwide (40% from 43 countries), offering them a Master’s in Global Affairs. **The Ideal Candidate**

We are looking for a highly qualified individual to join Schwarzman College at Tsinghua University in Beijing. The role involves enriching and safeguarding the residential environment for scholars. The ideal candidate should be proactive, collaborative, culturally aware, passionate about international education, and skilled in navigating diverse global perspectives. The role requires relocation to Beijing, China.

**Duties & Responsibilities**

*Residence Life Leadership*
As the Director for Residence Life (12-month live-in role), employed by Tsinghua University within Schwarzman College in Beijing, the candidate oversees the residential experience for 150 graduate students. Reporting to the Chief Student Affairs Officer, key responsibilities include:

– **Student Focus:**
– Provide advice on daily life challenges like health, cultural adaptation, and conflict resolution.
– Assist students with health concerns and maintain resources lists for healthcare.
– Oversee student health and safety coordination and conduct processes.

– **Operations & Procedures:**
– Manage housing assignments, maintenance, and facilities operations.
– Oversee student staff and on-call protocols.
– Enforce housing policies and manage accommodations requests.

– **Programs:**
– Develop and execute educational sessions on cultural adjustment, safety, etc.
– Support cultural celebrations, health initiatives, and workshops.

– **Other Duties:**
– Work typically Monday-Friday with flexible hours as necessary.
– Engage in crisis management and emergency response planning.
– Collaborate with various teams for student success.

**Minimum Qualifications**

– Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in related fields preferred.
– At least 5 years of experience in residence life or higher education.
– Experience with students from diverse backgrounds.
– Excellent English communication skills.
– Ability to support students in mental health, conflict mediation, and crisis situations.
– Flexible with working hours and emergencies.

**Preferred Qualifications**

– Over 7 years of residence life experience.
– Familiarity with China and Mandarin language.
– Experience studying or working abroad.
– Experience with graduate students and managing Accessibility Requests.
