Job Description:

Job Summary:
The Development Grant Writer plays a critical role in securing funding to support Texas A&M International University’s needs and priorities. Under general supervision, this position involves researching, preparing, and submitting proposals and grant applications. Additionally, you will aid in strategizing and implementing a proactive fund development program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources.
  • Research and gather institutional information necessary for projects seeking funding.
  • Identify potential funding sources using both electronic and print resources.
  • Develop and maintain documentation such as case statements and letters of intent.
  • Track proposals and donor activities across university departments.
  • Provide writing support for major donor proposals as assigned by leadership.
  • Manage corporate and foundation correspondence.
  • Assist in reviewing philanthropic grant requests.
  • Organize and maintain documentation both electronically and in hard copy.
  • Support additional fundraising projects as needed.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform pre-award duties ensuring compliance with System and State fiscal policies.
  • Assist faculty and staff in securing and managing external research and educational funding.
  • Interpret funding agency guidelines and advise on grant submissions.
  • Offer training for faculty on proposal development and funding opportunities.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Technical Communication, English (Writing and Rhetoric, Journalism, Philosophy) or a related field.
  • Experience: Two years of related grant proposal writing experience. A completed master’s degree with a thesis may substitute this experience.
  • Knowledge and Abilities:

– Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
– Ability to multitask and collaborate effectively.
– Clear and effective communication skills.

Preferred Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with grants.gov and other grant submission portals.

  • Licensing/Certification: Not required.

  • Supervision: This position does not typically supervise others.
  • Work Schedule: Evening and weekend work may be required. On-campus presence is mandatory.

Salary: $43,909.08 annually
