**Job Description:**

**Job Summary:**
Under general supervision, the Development Grant Writer is responsible for researching, preparing, and submitting grant proposals and applications in alignment with the University’s strategic objectives and priorities. The role involves assisting in the planning and execution of fund development strategies to establish a proactive and efficient funding program.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**
– Prepare and manage the complete process of grant proposals to foundations and corporate sources.
– Conduct research on institutional data for projects needing funding by coordinating with various University departments; include this data in case statements, proposals, and reports.
– Identify potential funding opportunities from diverse sources and ensure alignment with project goals.
– Develop and maintain case statements and related materials, prioritizing projects to meet deadlines effectively.
– Monitor and track submitted proposals and donor engagements.
– Provide writing assistance for major donor proposals and letters as directed by executive leadership.
– Draft corporate and foundation correspondence related to office requests.
– Assist as a central source for philanthropic grant submissions.
– Organize and maintain both electronic and physical files.
– Support other fundraising initiatives as needed.

**Additional Responsibilities:**
– Serve as the initial contact for all Institutional Review Board (IRB) compliance communications and activities.
– Manage IRB records and coordinate meetings related to human subjects.
– Collaborate with the IRB Chair and Office of Research and Sponsored Projects staff to develop and implement an electronic records system for research compliance.
– Perform additional research compliance tasks as assigned.

**Minimum Requirements:**

**Education:**
– Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Technical Communication, English (Writing and Rhetoric), Journalism, or Philosophy.

**Experience:**
– Two years of related experience in writing grant proposals. A completed master’s degree with a thesis may substitute for required experience.

**Knowledge and Abilities:**
– Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet applications.

**Ability to:**
– Multitask efficiently and collaborate with others.
– Communicate clearly and effectively for mutual understanding.

**Preferred Knowledge and Abilities:**
– Familiarity with grants.gov and other federal, state, and foundation grant submission portals.

**Licensing/Professional Certification:** None.

**Physical Requirements:**
– General office environment.

**Supervision of Others:**
– This position typically does not involve supervising other employees.

**Other Requirements:**
– Evening and weekend work may be necessary.
– Role requires in-person, on-campus interactions.
– Maintain consistent on-campus work attendance.

**Salary:** $43,909.08 annually
