Position Overview:

The Dean of International Enrollment will spearhead the growth and development of a young and dynamic enrollment department comprising the Marketing, Recruitment, Admissions, and Financial Aid Offices. This role is pivotal in managing all international undergraduate enrollment activities at Duke Kunshan University. Collaborating closely with key institutional stakeholders, the Dean will craft a forward-looking international enrollment strategy that resonates with and supports the university’s academic aspirations, research mission, and educational goals. A significant responsibility will be to support the retention and success of international students throughout their journey at the university. The position is based in Kunshan, China, and entails leading teams both locally and in Durham, North Carolina.

Essential Duties:

  • Provide strategic leadership to team members tasked with recruitment, selection, and enrollment of undergraduates at Duke Kunshan University.
  • Oversee the international admissions process, focusing on key metrics like academic performance, diversity, and alignment with the university’s global, interdisciplinary mission.
  • Develop and refine a holistic application review process that embodies institutional values such as accuracy and authenticity.
  • Design a strategic international recruitment plan with diverse lead-generation tactics.
  • Implement a robust marketing and communications strategy targeting prospective students based on various factors.
  • Engage with international influencers such as school leaders and alumni to bolster recruitment efforts.
  • Develop and manage an annual admissions model to meet enrollment and financial goals.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on enrollment metrics to guide decision-making.
  • Implement multi-channel strategies to ensure successful enrollment and retention.
  • Manage the operational aspects of the enrollment organization, including budget, HR, and technology.
  • Represent the university at key recruitment and admission events.

Required Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree with at least 15 years of experience in international enrollment management where strategy aligns with financial sustainability.
  • Expertise in Western-style admissions processes, including handling early decisions and high-achieving applicant recruitment.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to innovate for global student mobility trends.
  • A proactive working style and the ability to engage in diverse recruitment activities.
  • Inspirational leadership and team-building skills.
  • Strong communication and partnership development skills.
  • Solid analytical and leadership abilities.
  • Willingness to travel to support recruitment objectives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Chinese culture.
  • Proficiency in the Slate CRM system for admissions management.
