The Coordinator of Leadership and Academic Initiatives in the Housing and Residential Life department is responsible for advising the Residence Hall Association (RHA) and the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) while also developing academic engagement initiatives for Housing and Residential Experience. This role involves facilitating leadership training, promoting organizational development, and implementing academic engagement initiatives to enhance the residential learning experience for students.
The Coordinator serves as an advisor to the RHA and NRHH, providing support and development to general assembly members and executive officers. They also act as an organizational liaison between other advisors and the university. Additionally, the Coordinator oversees student leadership development programs and activities, including executive boards, councils, and training retreats. They also attend various meetings and committees, provide administrative support, and offer coaching to residents and staff in crisis situations.
The Coordinator is responsible for recruiting residents for leadership positions and ensures compliance with local, state, and federal laws when organizing activities and events. They coordinate risk management and safety measures and provide guidance and coaching to council advisors. The Coordinator also advises student delegations to leadership conferences and oversees academic interventions in the residential communities.
To be considered for this role, applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and two years of experience, or a Master’s degree. A Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, Human Relations, or a related field is desired. Experience in advising student organizations, leading training initiatives, and working with residence hall-based academic programs is also preferred.
The salary for this position is $46,000, and the work schedule is from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. The selected candidate will need to complete pre-employment requirements, including a Criminal Background Check, Driver License Check, and Fingerprinting Check.
