Team: This position is part of the Global Wales team within Universities Wales. Global Wales III is an international education program led by Universities Wales and funded by the Welsh Government through Taith.

Job Summary: The Communications Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing an effective international and domestic communications program for Global Wales, including promoting the “Study in Wales” brand. This role would suit a proactive communications professional with flexibility, as they will drive communications activity for a busy, multi-partner, international program. Excellent written communication skills, a creative mindset, and the ability to collaborate with colleagues across Universities Wales are essential.
This is a permanent, full-time position, but part-time and flexible working arrangements will be considered. Universities Wales is based in Cardiff and operates under a hybrid (office/home) working model.
Main Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Assistant Director, Head of Brand and Marketing, and relevant partners to develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy for Global Wales. Identify and leverage opportunities to promote the program’s work and strategic goals, as well as enhance the international reputation of Welsh higher and further education sectors, including through supporting Study in Wales marketing campaigns with appropriate communications activities. Deliver effective domestic and internal communications, ensuring relevant information is shared with key stakeholders and audiences.
Produce engaging and professional written content for various international and domestic audiences, such as newsletters, publications, press releases, blogs, and articles for the press and media. Cooperate with the Global Wales team and third parties like designers, agencies, and translators to ensure timely preparation of publications.
Manage and develop Global Wales’ online presence, working closely with colleagues from Universities Wales and external partners and stakeholders. This includes creating content for the Universities Wales website and taking the lead in maintaining and updating the Study in Wales website.
Oversee the Global Wales and Study in Wales social media channels, collaborating with colleagues to establish goals, devise content strategies, and improve reach. Work with the Communications and Campaigns Officer to handle relevant media inquiries. Monitor press and media, identifying any issues of particular
