OVERVIEW The Student Assistant role with the International Public Policy & Management Institute (IPPMI) at the University of Kentucky focuses on supporting international professionals as they transition to life in the United States. Based in Lexington, Kentucky, this position centers on engagement with IPPMI program participants and the wider university community. The role is particularly oriented toward cultural adjustment, campus integration, and cross-cultural exchange. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Serve as a resource for international professionals participating in IPPMI programs – Support participants with academic adjustment – Support participants with social adjustment – Support participants with cultural adjustment to life in the United States – Promote cultural exchange between participants and the University of Kentucky campus community – Assist with updating resource guides related to U.S. customs and daily life – Assist with updating online materials related to U.S. customs and daily life REQUIREMENTS – Fluency in Korean – Strong cross-cultural communication skills WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS International professional programs rely on effective support structures to help participants adapt quickly and successfully to new academic and cultural environments. This role contributes directly to participant well-being, engagement, and learning by ensuring they have access to relevant resources and culturally informed guidance. It also strengthens mutual understanding and global perspectives within the campus community.
