Department: Business and Partnership Development & Apprenticeships
Location: Marble Quay, London / Remote based (Hybrid working in line with business need) (Flexible working options to be discussed at interview)
Term: Full-time; 12-month Fixed Term (Part-time also considered at minimum 0.5fte)

The Role:
Northeastern University London (NU London) is seeking a Business Development Officer to support the promotion of work-related programmes, including higher and degree apprenticeships, short courses, and other non-degree offerings. This role involves working with employers across all sectors to support workforce planning. The ideal candidate will have experience with apprenticeships or developing relationships between the higher education sector and the business community. This role requires engagement with external organizations through various communication channels, including in-person meetings, web conferences, email, and phone.
Duties and Responsibilities:
– Support the Business Development Professionals and wider Business Development Team in growing the university’s customer base.
– Generate new leads by researching organizations aligned with the university’s expertise and target those organizations.
– Identify business needs and issues related to workforce planning and lifelong learning, facilitating business liaison and development activities to turn prospects into income-generating projects.
– Assist with delivering engagement activities, such as events, roundtables, webinars, etc.
– Proactively communicate with prospects and respond to inquiries promptly.
– Perform administrative duties related to business development, including updating supplier portals, tracking progress of new business, managing shared inboxes, etc.
– Assist in promoting work-related offerings, including attending events, working with partners, and utilizing digital channels.
– Maintain records and report on employer engagement, income generation, and other relevant data.
– Support the growth of income from apprenticeship opportunities.
– Assist the operations team in supporting employers and apprentices through the onboarding process.
– Ensure compliance with quality assurance processes and regulations.
– Have a full understanding of learner support requirements and NU London systems and services.
– Attend relevant training as required.
– Perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Business and Partnership Development & Apprenticeships or their designate.

The Business and Partnership Development & Apprenticeships section of NU London is dedicated to designing and delivering work-related learning programs in the UK and internationally. The team utilizes innovative pedagogical approaches and best practices in digital education and collaboration to ensure an excellent learner experience. The team currently delivers a range of work-related learning offerings, including apprenticeships, online degrees, and short courses.
Person Specification Criteria:
– Honours degree or equivalent professional or vocational qualification and/or business development experience.
– Recognized qualification in sales or digital marketing (desirable).
– Highly personable with an aptitude for building relationships with industrial partners.
– Experience building relationships in the higher education or business community.
– Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
– Strong project management skills with exceptional organization and time management.
– Creative approach to problem-solving and identifying new opportunities.
– Experience using database and management information systems.
– Understanding of administrative requirements of apprenticeship programs, ideally within the higher education or further education sector.
– Experience in organizing events (desirable).
– Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
– High degree of professionalism and personal integrity.
– Excellent record keeping and maintenance skills.
– Proficiency in using IT, particularly MS Office.
– Willingness to undertake continuous professional development.
