Athletic Trainer Position at Texas A&M International University: Application Advice for International Applicants

Overview:
Texas A&M International University’s Athletics Department is seeking an Athletic Trainer to join their team in Laredo, Texas. Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate injuries of athletes.
  • Prepare athletes with taping and bracing for practices and events.

  • Coordinate meals and supplements, maintain records, and liaise with healthcare providers.
  • Guide and schedule student athletic trainers’ educative programs.
  • Uphold professional licenses and certifications, and manage training room supplies.

Extra Duties:

  • Engage in public relations programs and ensure compliance with NCAA standards.
  • Support sports camps, clinics, and fundraising activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience: At least one year of full-time or three years of part-time paid experience as a student trainer.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
  • Competency in drug testing procedures and general sports rules.
  • Strong communication, multitasking abilities, and medical skills including first aid and physical therapy.

Licensing:

  • Acquire the State of Texas License to practice Athletic Training within six months of employment.

Physical Environment:

  • Adaptability to a dynamic athletic environment, which may include extended hours or travel.
