Job Description:
The Athletic Trainer is responsible for preventing, caring for, and treating injuries to athletes using modern principles of athletic training. They also collect samples for drug testing and supervise student athletic trainers. Key duties include evaluating, treating, and rehabilitating injuries, preparing athletes for practices and games, providing attendance and supervision at practices and games, coordinating with other trainers for athlete meals and supplements, maintaining injury records, consulting with medical professionals, coaches, and parents, and assisting in student trainer education and scheduling.
Additional Responsibilities:
– Assisting with public relations programs
– Ensuring NCAA compliance
– Assisting with sports camps or clinics
– Assisting with department fund-raising events
– Performing other assigned duties
Minimum Requirements:
– Education: Bachelor’s degree
– Experience: One year full-time or three years part-time paid experience as a student trainer
Knowledge and Abilities:
– Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software
– General knowledge of rules
– Understanding of drug testing procedures
– Ability to comprehend oral and written instructions, multitask, work cooperatively with others, and perform medical and first aid skills
Licensing/Professional Certification:
– Must obtain State of Texas License to practice Athletic Training within six months of employment
Preferred Licensing/Professional Certification:

Supervision of Others: Generally does not supervise employees.
Other Requirements:
– May require work beyond normal working hours, weekends, and holidays
– May require travel
– Position requires on-campus face-to-face interactions and regular schedule of attendance
Salary: $43,909.08 per year
