St. Lawrence University is seeking applications for the position of Associate Director of Asia and Pacific Programs. This role involves supporting off-campus study opportunities and international/intercultural programming on-campus, with a focus on Asia and the Pacific. The Associate Director will be responsible for advising and providing administrative support for a portfolio of programs, including recruitment, pre-departure advising, visa preparation, and serving as a contact while students are abroad. Additionally, the Associate Director will teach two courses per year based on their interests and may be eligible for a faculty appointment.

The Associate Director of Asia and Pacific Programs will be supported by an endowment that provides funding for teaching, research, study abroad, and internship opportunities in Asia. This role will involve developing initiatives in Asia by collaborating with faculty and students across campus, including travel to the region.

The responsibilities of the Associate Director include promoting and managing off-campus study programs, managing a grant-funded internship program, providing pre-departure support for students, acting as a point of contact while students are abroad, reviewing program evaluations, maintaining partnerships with partner organizations, consulting on safety and security issues, and collaborating with staff and faculty on campus.

In terms of teaching responsibilities, the Associate Director will design and lead two courses per academic year, with one potentially including a travel component. They will also collaborate with the First-Year Program and design on-campus programming related to Asia and the Pacific.

Additionally, the Associate Director will play a role in expanding Asia-focused initiatives across campus by developing a strategic plan, meeting reporting requirements for grants, seeking additional scholarships and grant opportunities, collaborating with various campus departments and organizations, and supporting international recruitment efforts.

The salary range for this position is $58,000 – $65,000 and includes health, education, and retirement benefits. The compensation will be determined based on experience. Applicants must have a master’s degree, at least 2 years of teaching/advising experience, significant experience in Asia, and a commitment to working with a diverse group of individuals. Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. in Asian Studies, proficiency in a second language, experience with student information systems, and experience in international education programming.
