Job Description with International Education Perspective – Associate Director of International Student Services
Job Summary
Embark on a rewarding career at Marist University as the Associate Director of International Student Services. This pivotal role involves supporting international students by offering counseling, advising, immigration assistance (F and J visas), and fostering intercultural support. You will also spearhead the bi-annual international orientation program and work alongside the Director to enhance Marist’s internationalization efforts by creating and implementing diverse, enriching co-curricular activities that promote cultural exchange and community building.
Minimum Qualifications
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Liberal Arts, International Studies, Higher Education, or related fields.
- Have 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
- Exhibit working knowledge of F and J visa processes.
Essential Functions
- Lead the planning, coordination, and implementation of comprehensive orientation programs for international students, overseeing the selection, training, and management of orientation leaders and student workers.
- Collaborate with university-wide committees and offices involved in orientation efforts.
- Function as a Designated School Official (DSO) to manage SEVIS compliance, providing vital immigration information to students, and ensure compliance for J exchange visa visitors.
- Offer robust counseling and advising services to international students, covering academic, personal, intercultural, and career development aspects.
- Develop initiatives to ensure international students thrive at Marist and adjust seamlessly to life in the U.S.
- Assist students with applying for Optional Practical Training (OPT) and Curricular Practical Training (CPT).
- Create and implement programming that fosters an inclusive environment and promotes a sense of belonging within the international student community.
- Stay informed about and ensure adherence to regulations governing international student compliance.
- Undertake other duties as needed.
