The AVP for International Affairs and Senior International Officer is a high-ranking position in the California State University Management Personnel Plan (MPP), administratively classified as Administrator III. This position serves under the authority of the University President and operates within the Division of Continuing and Global Education (CGE), reporting directly to the Dean and indirectly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

As a key member of the administration, the AVP for International Affairs is responsible for providing strategic guidance and direction in the establishment, management, and coordination of various international education programs at Fresno State. This role plays a crucial part in achieving the University’s goal of making a global impact, as outlined in the strategic plan. In addition, the AVP serves as a senior leader in the Continuing and Global Education Leadership team.

As part of their duties, the AVP oversees a team of approximately 10 employees in the International Office, with direct supervision of activities related to international admissions, recruitment, and advising for international students. The incumbent also shares responsibilities with CGE leadership for managing student travel study, study abroad programs, international exchange initiatives, and philanthropy efforts. Additionally, the AVP plays a vital role in supporting various campus international activities and functions
