The School of International Letters and Cultures (SILC) at Arizona State University is seeking applicants for the role of Assistant Teaching Professor in Spanish Heritage Language (SHL) Pedagogy, starting on August 16, 2025. Role Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Spanish heritage courses at various levels. This includes engaging formats like online, in-person, and hybrid. Additional opportunities may be available to teach upper-division courses based on the candidate’s expertise. This is a full-time, non-tenure track position that includes benefits. The typical teaching load is four courses per semester, with the possibility of annual renewal based on performance and institutional requirements.

Qualifications:
Required:
- PhD in Spanish, Spanish linguistics, applied linguistics, or a related field by the start date.
- At least five years of experience in teaching Spanish heritage language courses in higher education.
- Three years of experience in language program coordination.
- Proven success in online teaching.
- Proficiency in Spanish and English.
Preferred:
- Experience in promoting heritage programs in bilingual communities.
- Engagement with heritage teaching methodologies.
- Competence in language instruction technologies.
- Ability to develop learning materials for heritage learners.
- Experience teaching upper-division courses.
