Are you passionate about global education and have a flair for intercultural communication? Florida State University’s Center for Global Engagement is seeking an enthusiastic professional to join their administrative team for the Special Programs. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with international students in both academic settings and at Walt Disney World (WDW).
Key Responsibilities
- Program Administration: Lead the FSU program application process, ensuring international students successfully navigate through admission, immunization, payment, insurance, and registration requirements. Collaborate with team members to plan and execute the summer program for three student groups and engage in interviewing candidates recommended by partner universities.
- Instruction: Teach Applied Intercultural Communication during the fall semester and a Global Perspectives course in the fall or spring, both key components of the Global Citizenship Certificate. Facilitate workshops designed to ease international students’ transition to U.S. culture and their subsequent academic training at WDW.
- Student Support: Provide ongoing support and guidance to international students, addressing their concerns and directing them to the appropriate resources. Maintain effective communication with your team to ensure all student issues are documented and resolved.
- Community Involvement: Actively participate in major events and meetings hosted by the Center for Global Engagement and the Dean of Student Affairs.
Qualifications
- Advanced academic qualification (Ph.D. or Ed.D.), preferably in Global Studies or Intercultural Communication.
- Experience in teaching at the university level, with a strong background in working with international students.
- Valid driver’s license for Florida or Georgia, with the ability to travel monthly to WDW.
- Flexibility to work outside standard hours, including some weekends and evenings.
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience living, working, or studying internationally.
- Expertise in program management and student affairs.
- Strong teamwork skills.
