Reporting to the Director of Education Abroad, the Assistant Director is primarily responsible for developing and managing summer and semester study abroad programs. This entails overseeing the entire application process from the initial interest phase. The role’s key stakeholders include faculty, students, internal staff, and external partners. The Assistant Director will manage staff tasked with supporting these initiatives, including advising students on enrollment, matriculation, preparation, and participation. This role involves direct collaboration with LMU faculty members, partner institutions, and relevant LMU offices to ensure program success and positive student experiences. Additionally, the position is accountable for maintaining comprehensive student records and ensuring compliance with all LMU policies and processes.

### Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities

1. **Program Development and Implementation:** Collaborate with the Director of Education Abroad to create and execute comprehensive Study Abroad programs aligned with the university’s mission. Establish and maintain trustful relationships with internal and external constituents to support these initiatives. Ensure all credit-bearing international education activities meet institutional standards and conduct thorough program evaluations.

2. **Policy Management:** Develop and manage policies and procedures based on best practice research. Enhance student access, promote services, and maintain satisfaction through continuous assessment. Guarantee that all program information, brochures, and communications are current and accessible. Ensure full legal, risk management, and policy compliance for all Study Abroad programs.

3. **Student Advising:** Utilize current systems to oversee the student advising process, ensuring easy access to academic and programmatic information. Provide resources on flight details, immigration requirements, course registration, and health and safety information. Develop and deliver orientations in collaboration with program leaders.

4. **Application Process Oversight:** Manage the student application process using modern systems to improve accessibility and efficiency while ensuring compliance with LMU policies. Review completed applications and make acceptance recommendations based on protocols and faculty input.

5. **Financial Management Support:** Assist in managing budgets, billing, accounting, and enrollment; facilitate scholarship awards and financial aid advising. Provide guidance on campus resources for academic and financial planning, and perform program evaluations.

6. **Marketing and Outreach:** Develop and oversee marketing plans, outreach efforts, event planning, and returnee engagement. Support the broader International Programs and Partnership team as needed.

7. **Staff Management:** Oversee the training, evaluation, development, and motivation of staff.

8. **Risk and Crisis Management:** Assist with risk and crisis management in coordination with the International Program and Partnership team. Support students and faculty with health, adjustment, academic issues, and other onsite concerns. Respond to queries from students, family members, and other constituents appropriately.

9. **Professional Development:** Stay informed about current trends and best practices in Study Abroad program management. Attend relevant professional conferences as recommended.

10. **Additional Duties:** Perform other duties as assigned.

### Requisite Qualifications
– Typically, a Master’s degree in a related field and proven personnel management experience in higher education are required. The incumbent is expected to keep abreast of regulatory and policy changes.
– Minimum of four years of increasingly complex management experience in an academic environment. Preferred experience includes living, working, or studying abroad, or a deep familiarity with university-level Study Abroad program administration.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Experience with database management, data analysis, and statistical reporting. Proficiency with Terra Dotta software is preferred.
– Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
– Ability to use initiative, independent judgment, tact, and diplomacy.
– Capacity to organize and prioritize multiple complex tasks in a fast-paced environment, with excellent follow-up and attention to detail.
– Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) to prepare comprehensive reports and executive summaries.
– Ability to create and deliver effective presentations, and establish efficient office and recordkeeping procedures.
– Proven ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, parents, and other stakeholders.
– Effective communication with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.

**Salary Range:** $66,560.00 – $87,776.00, commensurate with education and experience.
