Southwestern University, located in Georgetown, is currently seeking an Assistant Director of Study Abroad and International Student Services. This individual will be responsible for guiding and assisting students who wish to study abroad, providing information about study abroad to faculty, staff, alumni, and parents, and supporting faculty-led programming. Additionally, this position will provide visa support and programming for international students. The Assistant Director will report to the Director of Study Abroad and International Student Services and work on a full-time, fully benefited basis.
Primary duties of this role include advising students on study abroad options, coordinating outreach and marketing of study abroad programs, maintaining online platforms for the Office of Study Abroad and International Student Services, processing study abroad applications, maintaining student records for F-1 and ISEP students, serving as a Designated School Official, advising international students on visa requirements, planning International Student Orientation and social events, supervising student employees, staying informed about trends in the education abroad field, and serving on university committees as needed.
To be considered for this position, applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree, at least one year of experience advising or coordinating study abroad programs in higher education, and U.S. citizenship or permanent residency. Strong interpersonal, project management, problem-solving, and presentation skills are required, as well as proficiency with Google and databases. Attention to detail, the ability to handle multiple tasks quickly and accurately, and the ability to thrive in stressful situations are also important. Experience in a liberal art setting, three plus years of experience with study abroad programs, and experience supporting international students are preferred.
