### Position Overview

**Role:** Assistant Director of International Office/Study Abroad

**Introduction:** The Assistant Director of the International Office/Study Abroad will play a pivotal role as a primary contact for the International Office and International Admissions. This position involves managing the abroad@iwu.edu email account and co-managing the internationaloffice@iwu.edu account, handling initial communications, and serving as the main contact for all study abroad communications. The selected candidate will also lead the execution of study abroad programs and promote interest in study abroad opportunities at IWU, while providing support to international recruitment and admissions efforts. The role also includes serving as a backup Designated School Official (DSO) and ensuring compliance with federal regulations as mandated by the Department of Homeland Security.
### Key Responsibilities
1. **Study Abroad Advising:**
– Advise students on study abroad options and guide them through the application process.
– Review and process IWU study abroad applications.
– Prepare and conduct online and in-person pre-departure orientations.
– Coordinate the review of study abroad scholarship applications with the Study Abroad Advisory Committee.
– Design and implement marketing campaigns for study abroad, including event planning, print, email, video content, and social media strategy.
– Assist with visa applications as required.
2. **Administration of Study Abroad Programs:**
– Oversee IWU London and IWU Barcelona programs, including director recruitment, partner liaison, contract review, and budget preparation.
– Support short-term travel, develop online brochures and applications via Terra Dotta, assist faculty leaders, and register students with STEP.
– Review, approve, and manage spending reconciliations.
– Coordinate information sharing with campus partners and monitor international risk and safety (USDOS, CDC, OSAC, NAFSA, AlertTraveler).
3. **Support Recruitment and Admissions:**
– Represent IWU at recruitment events and meet prospective students concerning study abroad opportunities.
– Act as a member of the International Admissions Committee, manage communications and documents related to international admissions, and assist in executing an international student recruitment plan.
4. **International Student Advisory/DSO Backup:**
– Assist students in compliance with regulations on status, visas, and passports.
– Facilitate orientation sessions and process office financial transactions.
– Provide general support for international office operations.
### Qualifications
– **Education:** Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
– **Experience:** Three years of related experience.
– **Legal Requirement:** U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residency is necessary to serve as a DSO/ARO.
– **Skills:** Proficient in study abroad program advising, knowledgeable about Terra Dotta, familiar with undergraduate curriculum and requirements. Ability to learn databases and adhere to policies and processes.
– **Travel:** Some local, national, and international travel may be required.

**Compensation:** $46,000 annually ($23.59/hr)
**Additional Information:** A pre-employment background investigation will be conducted for the final candidate. IWU does not sponsor H-1B or other work authorization visas for this position.
