Job Description:

The Institute of International Education (IIE) is seeking an Assistant Director, Fulbright Scholar Outreach & Recruitment to lead a dedicated team in connecting U.S. scholars to opportunities abroad. We are looking for individuals who share our vision of transforming the world into more peaceful and equitable societies through education that transcends borders and fosters problem-solving.

As the Assistant Director, you will play a crucial role in the Fulbright Outreach and Recruitment department. The Fulbright Program, sponsored by the United States Government, aims to increase mutual understanding and promote friendly relations between the United States and other countries through academic exchanges. With the support of over 160 partner countries, Fulbright offers a vast range of life-changing international academic and cultural opportunities.

In this position, you will develop an outreach plan to reach diverse audiences and expand Fulbright’s engagement with higher education institutions in the U.S. You will also execute a comprehensive recruitment plan, which includes supporting individual applicants through application advising, virtual activities, and digital resources. Additionally, you will lead a team of professionals and collaborate with other Fulbright teams and the U.S. Department of State.

Key Responsibilities:

– Develop an annual calendar of recruitment activities targeting qualified faculty and professionals to generate interest in the Fulbright Program, including webinars, campus visits, and prospect management.
– Design virtual and in-person trainings for Fulbright Scholar Liaisons, with an emphasis on supporting institutions underrepresented in international exchange.
– Coordinate mentorship activities for applicants.
– Develop programs for alumni, build strategic alliances, and collaborate with value-aligned organizations and alumni-led groups to expand Fulbright’s reach.
– Create and manage a comprehensive suite of digital resources to assist applicants in navigating the application process.
– Conduct market research to identify trends and opportunities in the higher education industry that impact prospective applicants and develop initiatives to address these needs.
– Analyze data and key performance indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment and outreach efforts and adjust strategies accordingly.
– Ensure compliance with contract and sponsor requirements, as well as IIE policies and procedures.
– Manage program budgeting and oversight.

Requirements:

– Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
– Preferred: Master’s degree and 5-10 years of relevant experience.
– Strong knowledge and experience in higher education institutions.
– Proven ability to set and implement strategies and goals in a fast-paced and changing environment.
– Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
– Proactive approach to work and problem-solving.
– Track record of successfully managing, motivating, and developing high-performing teams.

Compensation and Benefits:

– Salary Range: $78,534-95,947, based on factors such as experience, skills, and geographic location.

Please note that IIE offers a hybrid work environment, allowing a combination of in-office work and telework at specified locations.

The essential functions of this role are carried out in a general office setting with minimal noise.
