Job Opportunity: Assistant Director for Education Abroad at Xavier University

Xavier University, a distinguished Jesuit Catholic institution in Cincinnati, is seeking an Assistant Director for Education Abroad. This role is pivotal in broadening global learning opportunities for our students by managing study abroad programs and providing comprehensive advising and outreach.
Position Overview:
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Advising students on diverse study abroad options, from semester-long courses to international internships and service-learning programs.
- Leading Xavier’s unique study abroad initiatives, like the XU in Peru Center and the STEM in London semester.
- Promoting study abroad through fairs, classroom sessions, and information events.
- Facilitating orientation and re-entry programs.
- Managing study abroad application software, interacting with roughly 500 students annually.
- Nurturing partnerships with global universities and maintaining connections with faculty and departments.
- Overseeing program evaluations and assessments.
- Acting as a secondary point of contact for emergencies abroad.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration or a related field is preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in international education or study abroad programs.
- Exceptional communication skills with a focus on intercultural proficiency.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Experience advising undergraduate students.
- Familiarity with study abroad best practices and software like Terra Dotta, or a willingness to learn.
- Experience living or studying abroad is a plus.
- Proficiency in a second language, particularly Spanish, is advantageous.
