About the Role

The successful candidate will be part of our Marketing Department, providing support for all admissions activities and managing the application process, along with assisting students with visa and admissions-related inquiries. You will report to the Senior Admissions Officer and contribute to team activities, KPI’s and implement improvement opportunities as identified by the team, including attending training sessions relevant to the role.

We are seeking an enthusiastic Admissions Officer with a passion for music and education, who possesses Higher Education experience and is driven to assist prospective students during the pre-enrollment and enrollment process. The ability to engage with applicants (both domestic and international) and comprehend Point Blank’s courses is important.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process applications for London and online Higher Education courses, including maintaining applicant records, assessing qualifications, and processing decisions.
  • Provide assistance throughout the pre-enrollment and enrollment process.
  • Assess Fee Status and provide information on funding options. 
  • Review and evaluate Scholarship applications.
  • Service the Scholarship Panel and take minutes.
  • Assist Point Blank in meeting Access and Participation targets.
  • Assist with international student inquiries and provide support for applicants requiring a student visa to study in the UK.  
  • Work with offer holders to gather visa documentation in preparation for Confirmation of Acceptance of Study (CAS) issuance, and update the Sponsor Management System (SMS) accordingly.
  • Create acceptance letters for students requiring a Visitor Visa and offer assistance during this process.
  • Assist the Admissions Manager and Registry staff with immigration compliance-related processes, such as ID checks and audits.
  • Maintain and update website content and communication for international students.
  • Assist with our in-house English Language testing, including invigilation of tests, providing training to Student Ambassadors, and updating database records.
  • Provide support during Open Days, Audition days, and external Marketing events that require Admissions representation. 
  • Develop a sound understanding of Point Blank departments and staff functions to refer inquiries correctly in a helpful and positive manner.
  • Apply sensitivity and discretion when handling confidential information and escalate complex cases to Management.
  • Identify areas for improvement and proactively solve problems using creativity and logic.
  • Contribute to a range of projects coordinated by the Admissions Department.
  • Work flexibly as part of the Admissions Team and be available for occasional evening and weekend work as required.
  • Maintain accurate student records with a strong emphasis on detail using the MS Office suite and the EMS system.
  • Carry out any other duties that commensurate with the post.

Person Specification – Essential

Education:  

  • Educated to A Level or an equivalent level 3 qualification.

Experience: 

  • Demonstrable experience in a Student Services or Admissions role within a Higher Education setting.

Knowledge and Skills:  

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to ensure effective and tactful communication with prospective students, applicants, students, staff, and other stakeholders, including a good telephone manner.
  • The ability to produce written communications to high standards of accuracy and clarity.
  • Good organizational and administrative skills with the ability to prioritize work demands to meet deadlines.
  • The ability to learn and adhere to processes and follow regulations.
  • The ability to maintain meticulous attention to detail while handling high-volume repetitive tasks.
  • A team player, with a hands-on, pragmatic approach, willing to help out where necessary, and able to work well under pressure.
  • Strong IT skills, including a strong knowledge of MS Office applications, reporting tools, and database manipulation.
  • Problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze, follow-up, and resolve issues. 

Person Specification – Desirable

Education:

  • Educated to Degree level. 

Experience: 

  • Experience in assisting students with immigration-related inquiries.
  • Experience using the UCAS weblink system.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of student finance and immigration in Higher Education.
