Fordham University in London is searching for an adjunct professor to teach a level three course in International Business Ethics (BLBU 3443) for the fall semester. The course will begin on September 4, 2023 and end on December 15, 2023, with a study break from October 23-27, 2023.
This course explores the relationship between ethical criteria, current events, and social norms in guiding companies and organizations in the current political and business environment. It utilizes various sources such as news media, textbooks, websites, and videos to examine the business climate and analyze how cultural, legal, and policy frameworks, as well as ethical theories, influence the development of Corporate Social Responsibility, Corporate Governance, and sustainability.
Activities in the course include studying business practices, analyzing examples of ethical corporate behavior, researching cases of unethical behavior and its impact on companies, and understanding the advantages of establishing and following ethical guidelines and operating a socially responsible business.
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
- Understand the international setting in which companies operate and enhance their awareness and skills for work in that environment.
- Interpret media, reports, and emails effectively, and understand legal decisions and international treaty requirements.
- Analyze ethical theories, particularly Catholic Social Teaching, and their influence on society and its expectations for the business world.
- Learn what companies must do to be responsible corporate citizens and how to influence future colleagues in developing a “good” business model.
Successful candidates must be experienced and effective teachers who can cater to a diverse student body and engage students in the subject matter. Teaching for this course will occur in weekly three-hour blocks, specifically on Wednesday evenings (1800-2100) for the Fall 2023 semester.
