The Academic Adviser (Mobility) is responsible for advising students in Northeastern University (Northeastern) programmes studying at the London campus. This role involves working closely with operational and administrative departments at both Northeastern and Northeastern University London to ensure a successful and supportive academic experience for students. The Academic Adviser (Mobility) specifically focuses on supporting Northeastern students studying in London and facilitating collaboration between the two institutions.

Duties and Responsibilities
– Provide academic advising and support to students on mobility programmes, including assisting with course selection and providing guidance on learning and academic skills.
– Monitor student attendance and engagement, identifying and addressing any barriers to their success.
– Support students at risk of academic failure, assessing their needs and providing appropriate assistance or referrals.
– Collaborate with Student Wellbeing Coordinators to ensure appropriate accommodations are being utilized by students.
– Advise students on College policies and procedures.
– Coordinate students’ requests for references.
– Liaise with faculty and staff to process and advise students on academic progress reports.
– Maintain accurate student records and appointments.
– Foster relationships with faculty and staff in other professional services to connect students with available support.
– Stay informed about relevant university policies and technologies used by students.
– Support the Lead Academic Advisor and University leaders in academic programme articulation.
– Stay updated on developments in the UK education sector and provide advice on integration activities.
– Collect and maintain programme data and records for evaluation purposes.
– Perform any other duties as required by the College.
Person Specification Criteria (Essential / Desirable)
– Honours degree or equivalent professional or vocational qualification (E)
– Experience with academic advising or providing academic support in higher education (E)
– Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills (E)
– Experience working with diverse student populations (E)
– Knowledge of relevant legislation for student support (E)
– Understanding of undergraduate academic expectations in British universities (E)
– Experience with student information systems and CRM systems (E)
– Strong communication skills in English (E)
– Good interpersonal skills (E)
– Strong organizational and time-management skills (E)
– Adaptability in communication style (E)
