We are excited to announce that we are currently hiring two new Strategic Research Facilitators to join the Research Coordination Office (RCO) for the Life and Medical Sciences at UCL Research, Innovation, and Global Engagement. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the development of research funding within one of the largest and most esteemed collections of academics in biomedical, life, and population health sciences. The RCO’s main objective is to assist UCL researchers, academics, and clinicians in creating competitive grant applications, fostering cross-disciplinary research communities and collaborations, increasing the success rate of research funding applications, and aiding in the development and implementation of UCL’s research strategy. As Strategic Research Facilitators within the RCO, you will play a crucial role in supporting these activities and contribute to UCL’s ongoing success in research and innovation. In this role, you will work across the four Life and Medical Sciences (LMS) faculties at UCL. Key responsibilities will include: – Ensuring that researchers within LMS are aware of relevant funding opportunities from UK Government, international sources, and charities. – Managing UCL’s relationship with external funding agencies and coordinating with key contacts at UCL to facilitate these collaborations. – Assisting with funding applications from specific LMS Divisions and Institutes. – Overseeing internal triage processes to select applications that can be submitted to funders. – Supporting researchers in preparing for grant funding interviews. – Collaborating with professional staff at UCL on strategic projects and interdisciplinary grants. – Providing training and resources for academics applying for funding. To be successful in this role, candidates must have a proactive approach to research facilitation and prior experience with research funding in large research-intensive organizations. They should also possess knowledge and understanding of the current research funding landscape, both domestically and internationally. A solid grasp of research development in higher education and a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion are essential. Strong communication skills are also highly valued.
