### Job Opportunity: Senior International Scholar Advisor #### Company Overview The International Scholar Advisor Team plays a pivotal role in the recruitment and retention of leading international faculty and scholars. By supporting the university’s research, teaching, and service mission, this team is integral to making employment decisions for non-resident alien candidates. The Senior International Scholar Advisor leads this team, spearheading the training and mentorship of both new and current international scholar advisors, and consulting on intricate employment cases within the university. #### Key Responsibilities – Serve as the team lead for the International Scholar Team, developing and maintaining online procedural materials for the campus. – Manage complex immigration cases, including drafting DS-2019s for the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program, and overseeing other nonimmigrant petitions like H-1B, O-1, TN, and E-3. – Act as the liaison with federal agencies such as DHS, DOL, DOS, and other organizations requiring data on UNC’s international scholars. – Advise and provide information to UNC-CH sponsored international faculty and scholars, ensuring compliance with federal immigration laws. – Deliver training sessions, workshops, and orientations for international faculty and research employees. – Engage in programming events and assist with various duties to support the office’s overall functions. #### Required Qualifications – A post-Baccalaureate degree (or foreign equivalent); candidates with a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) and 3 years of relevant experience may be considered. – U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required for SEVIS roles. – Extensive knowledge of nonimmigrant classifications and U.S. immigration regulations. – Proficiency in explaining complex immigration and labor regulations and preparing relevant documentation. – Strong communication skills with cross-cultural awareness, ability to work collaboratively, and attention to detail. #### Preferred Qualifications – 3 to 5 years of immigration case management experience, preferably within a 4-year university setting. – Familiarity with F student regulations and federal regulations concerning U.S. immigrant petitions. – Competence with database management and technology. #### About the University The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the first public university in the nation, is a beacon of academic excellence committed to research, teaching, and public service.
