Missouri University of Science and Technology is searching for an experienced Senior Director to lead the university’s international initiatives. As the Senior Internationalization Officer (SIO), the successful candidate will work closely with various departments on campus to provide support for international students and scholars. This includes collaborating with Graduate and International Admissions, International Student and Scholar Services, Student Diversity Initiatives, the Division of Student Affairs, the Office of Human Resources, and other key partners. Additionally, the Senior Director will oversee the expansion and maintenance of international partnership agreements. Reporting to the Provost, this position will have significant influence on campus and will contribute to establishing Missouri S&T as a global leader in research, teaching, and innovation.

Founded in 1870, Missouri S&T is a land-grant and space-grant institution with a strong academic heritage. The Senior Director of International Initiatives will serve as a subject matter expert on globalization at Missouri S&T. They will have the opportunity to hire a full-time staff member to support their work in scaling up the university’s international efforts. Key responsibilities include developing a comprehensive plan and goals for internationalization, coordinating programs and services to increase intercultural understanding, assessing the effectiveness of existing services, managing a master calendar of events, creating a website to compile related resources, overseeing international travel processes, maintaining international partnerships, providing guidance on international protocols, and advocating for international students and scholars.

Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree or higher, and at least six years of experience in internationalization in higher education. They should possess knowledge and appreciation of cultural differences, with experience living or working in international settings being desirable. Expertise in areas such as international student recruitment, programming, services, and partnership agreements is essential. The successful candidate should have demonstrated experience in program administration and the ability to lead through influence. Supervisory experience is desirable but not required.

This position is based on the Missouri S&T campus in Rolla, Missouri, and regular in-person work is required. However, a hybrid work schedule may be considered for highly qualified applicants.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $90,000 – $110,000 annually. Salary will be determined based on factors such as education, skills, and relevant experience.
