Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine

Position: Senior Business Development Manager (Full-Time, 4-year fixed term contract) Location: Liverpool (national and international travel required) iiCON, a world-leading centre for infection innovation and R&D, is seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to join our team. Led by the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), iiCON works with industry, academics, and clinicians to support innovation and develop antimicrobial products and treatments that save and improve lives worldwide. Since its establishment in 2020, iiCON has experienced exponential growth, currently maintaining a £250m portfolio. With additional funding secured, we are expanding further, and the Senior Business Development Manager will work alongside iiCON’s CEO, Professor Janet Hemingway, CBE. The main focus of this role is to lead the development of new partnerships while providing expertise and guidance on the best routes to market for our innovative products. This position is specifically focused on the robotics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence space, necessitating previous hands-on technical experience in this field and a relevant PhD qualification. The ideal candidate will possess strong commercial acumen and the ability to present projects as attractive business propositions to potential clients and partners, securing investment and funding. Another crucial aspect of the role involves collaborative work to establish and validate the Cat 3 Mobile robotics and AI space for inclusion in the iiCON program. Key Responsibilities: – Develop new business prospects by scoping potential external partners, establishing contact, and nurturing viable business development opportunities in the mobile robotics Cat 3 area. – Expand the iiCON network of external stakeholders through proactive business development, including participation in relevant networking and partnering events. – Support and align with the iiCON program’s communications strategy. – Negotiate deals and manage formalities for closures. Qualifications and Experience: – PhD in Science/Engineering or Business field. – Degree in relevant engineering, AI, robotics, or business field. – Network of business contacts relevant to the robotics, AI, and machine learning landscape.
