Job Summary:
The Assistant International Student Advisor will support various functions at the Roux Institute, enhancing the student experience at Northeastern University’s newest regional site. Reporting to the Associate Director of International Student Services for U.S. Regional Campuses, the assistant advisor will serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) and provide immigration advising and support to international students.

Responsibilities:
1) Assist and collaborate with the regional campus advising team, providing front-line student support through email and document processing.
2) Monitor the office workflow and ensure timely processing, including reviewing and supporting the OGS case management systems and emails.
3) Assist with reporting SEVIS events through batching or direct entry.
4) Support data auditing by reviewing alerts and reports to identify cases requiring compliance analysis.
5) Contribute to the processing of I-20 and DS-2019 forms for students and scholars, as well as review documentation for other visa types.
6) Assist with processing and pre-screening of other documentation such as program extensions, transfers, work authorization, and travel support.
7) Support activities aimed at improving the student experience, including orientation and other campus events requiring OGS representation.
8) Provide front desk coverage, answer phone calls, create advising schedules, and screen/process immigration-based inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications:
– Some knowledge or training in international student advising (F-1 and J-1 visa classifications) preferred.
– Strong customer service background.
– Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and multi-task.
– Thorough knowledge of office procedures, good judgment, discretion, and patience.
– Familiarity and comfort with computer database systems and PC-based network environment.
– Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of one year of professional work experience.
– US citizenship or lawful permanent residency required to be a Designated School Official (DSO) / Alternate Responsible Official (ARO).
